Cross Country skiing in Montgenèvre

THE NORDIC SKIING DOMAIN: officially certified!
The international Montgenèvre / Claviere arena: the official
training site for the Turin 2006 Winter Olympics which has
received further recent investment: snowmakers, new
signage, footbridges…
Starting from Montgenèvre, 17km of pistes, which you can
cover in classical cross-country style or skating style, will lead
first-timers and old hands in the direction of Italy or to the
village of Les Alberts, located at the foot of the pass on the
Col de Briançon, via trails through the woods of Sestriere.
Linked below geographically and historically, Montgenèvre
and Les Alberts, which stands below it at the entrance to the
Vallée de la Clarée, form part of the same commune.
From Les Alberts, 60km of trails pass through unspoilt landscapes
and villages in the superb Vallée de la Clarée, the
jewel in the crown of cross-country skiing in the Alps. The
pistes link Les Alberts to Névache. They pass through several
hamlets of the commune of Val des Prés (La Vachette, Le Rosier,
Le Serre, Pra Premier) before reaching Névache via
Plampinet.
- The Haute Trace des Escartons, is a Franco-Italian route of
100 km which links Saint Véran and Névache in 4 days via the
Col d’Izoard (2,360m) and the Col de Bousson (2,200m). Montgenèvre
is ideally located between the 3rd and 4th stages.

5,000m² with all types of slope for cross-country skiing
in total safety in a good-natured atmosphere.
