First World Cup victory for Martina Schild

With her first World Cup victory Martina Schild won the first super G of the season for the women. With bib number 14 Martina Schild started off into the super G race and showed a sensational performance in the upper part of the slope.

Riesch with a great run
Behind Schild, German Maria Riesch showed another great run as she was already 4th in the downhill on Saturday. This time her run was enough to reach the podium in Lake Louise. Third place went to Sweden’s Jessica Lindell Vikarby who enjoyed her first World Cup podium. Austria’s Alexandra Meissnitzer was 4th only a few hundredths away from the podium and closely ahead Fraenzi Aufdenblatten. Nicole Hosp was the best among the Overall World Cup favorites as she finished 6th. Sweden’s Anja Paerson was 7th and USA’s Julia Mancuso 11th.
