First World Cup win for Georg Streitberger
At the super G in Kvitfjell, Norway the Austrian Georg Streitberger won his first World Cup race of his career. Streitberger beat Bode Miller (USA) by 0,20 seconds. Third in the end was Didier Cuche from Switzerland.Miller extends his lead Streitberger basically came out of nowhere on Sunday to win the super G. His best result in the World Cup before was a sixth place 2006 and he has had only three top ten results this season so far. Miller collected another 80 points on his way to the Overall World Cup. He is now almost 200 points ahead of Didier Cuche who overtook Benjamin Raich to become the new second placed racer in the Overall standings. Benjamin Raich had a weekend to forget as his best result was a 16th place on Sunday. Bad crash by Mathias Lanzinger The super G World Cup will be most likely in the hands of Didier Cuche who has a great lead one race before the end. He only has to get into the Top 15 at the World Cup final in Bormio in middle March. On Sunday the race was interrupted by almost half an hour due to the bad crash of Mathias Lanzinger. He crashed hard in the lower part of the course and was flown to the hospital. SKI WORLD CUP |
