Park City Special: Park City Mountain Resort

Park City Mountain ist the young and hip brother of Deer Valley.  It ist he place where the young snowboarder cummunity and everyone who likes it relaxed meet. The ski resort is divided in seven mountain zones, each addressing a different ability level, which makes skiing at Park City Mountain very easy.

Park City Mountain Resort – this means 116 great runs. This ski resort plays in the premiere league of ski resorts worldwide as it offers a unique skiing experience. Nine peaks with the best of Utah’s powdery snow promise pure fun.

The skiing area is divided in seven mountain zones. PayDay Zone offers mainly easiest and easy runs. The Town Lift takes you directly from the city centre into the ski resort. However, this lift is not for the faint hearted as is one of three chair lifts in the resort that are not equipped with a safety bar.

Intermediate skiers and snowboarders love the mountainzone King Con (the name derives from an old mine not from the ape). Here you will find particularly a lot of intermediate runs and you can choose from groomed and ungroomed runs.  At the exit of the lifts an information board will tell you which runs are groomed and which are not. In addition, there are several mogul runs available for all those with flabby knees. King Con is also perfect for freestylers as the new Neff terrain park with its sweet obstacles is located here.

If you want to conquer the big superpipe you need to visit Crescent Moutainzone with its 3 Kings Terrain Park. Those who can’t get enough of all the obstacles can keep shredding in the evenings as the terrain park is lighted.

Pure powder in Park City’s backcountry
Most skiers visit Park City because of its incomparable backcountry.  Mountainzones McConkleys and Jupiter offer runs through the untouched powder of Utah. Here you can experience the famous Greatest Snow on Earth! Different to Europe you can enjoy freeriding within the boundaries of the ski resort here as the terrain is patrolled. There are many slopes which you can only reach by foot which is why you shouldn’t be bothered by a little hike. So get off your skis and get up that mountain!

Yet, at Park City Mountain Resort there is more to experience than  just skiing. For instance, you may take a ride with the Alpine Coaster which is fun for the entire family. Your cart is pulled up the mountain and then off you go through the birch woods. And if you like it even faster you should try the zip line.

In the U.S. Après Ski as it is known in Europe is rather unusual. However, if you want to have a drink after skiing you can visit some bars on Main Street.  For instance, almost next to the Town Lift is the High West Distillery which calls itself the only “Ski- in Distillery in the world". It was founded in 2007 and is the first legal distillery since 1870 in Utah.
