Reichelt catches Super G globe by a hair
At the Super G in Bormio Austria´s Hannes Reichelt took Didier Cuche the little crystal globe for the discipline World Cup away. The Austrian won tightly ahead of Didier Defago and Ales Gorza.Victory by one point ahead The decision in the Super G final couldn´t have been more exciting. Although it looked like an unspectacular race determined by the early bibs Austrian Hannes Reichelt provided for the surprise of the day. Having started as 16th the Austrian undercut Didier Defago´s minimum time by just one hundredths of a second. Before the race he only had theoretical chances to win the title as he was 99 points behind his competitor Cuche. But the Swiss only showed a weak performance and missed the points entering the finish as 16th. Gorza profits by bib one Ales Gorza who set the benchmark which lasts up to the 13th starter Defago right at the beginning of the race reached the podium as third at the end. For the Slowene it was the second arrival on the rostrum after the third place in Whistler (CAN) at the Olympic test races in February. SKI |
