A holiday in the Tyrolean Stubaital– an insider’s tip for hikers and familiesStubaital May, 2010- Grass starts to pollinate and flowers burst into bloom. It’s a sure sign that summer’s just around the corner! Simply the thought of hiking through the charming Stubai landscape makes you want to go on holiday. Hikers and families find that the Stubaital is an ideal valley to spend a relaxing holiday. A holiday above the clouds has to be relaxing! This summer the Stubaital will be offering two new attractions at lofty heights. At the Schlick 2000 hiking centre, the StubaiBlick observation deck at 2,160 m above sea level is currently being given a final going-over. Just walking along the path that leads there is a sublime treat at a great height: the short, barrier-free panoramic trail from the Kreuzjoch mountain terminal leads past a series of intriguingly unusual seats which have been created by local Stubai artists. At 3,210 m above sea level, the TOP OF TYROL summit platform enthrals visitors with its unique views of 109 peaks towering over 3,000 m. The impressive platform on the Stubai Glacier reveals all the beauty of the Tyrolean mountain world to mountaineering enthusiasts. A secret remedy for people in search of recreation The mighty power of water can be felt and intensively experienced in the Stubai WildWater Park. The new WildWater Trail is well signposted and leads past lakes and glacier streams. A wide range of hiking routes lead past astounding waterfalls, the purest headstreams and high Alpine flora and fauna. The impressions of the rugged, picturesque landscape coupled with a breath of crisp Stubai mountain air are the best remedy for recharging those empty batteries. They help to ensure that you’ll enjoy a relaxing holiday in the mountains. Adventures for children Children are often less than keen at the prospect of going on hikes with their parents. Here in the Stubaital we offer an alternative programme for children and young people, leaving parents to enjoy the natural surroundings in peace and quiet. Having fun is what a visit to the BIG Family Stubai Summer Club is all about. Youngsters can look for Wusel the water sprite in the Stubai stream. Magic potions or tinctures for the skin are mixed in the Witches’ Kitchen. Pony riding, handicrafts, climbing in the ‘Alpine Garden’ and Tyrol’s biggest high ropes climbing centre, a visit to the bird-of-prey park or a racy ride on the summer tobogganing run are just a few examples of activities included in the attractive children’s programme. For children and young people over the age of 10 the schedule of activities includes whitewater rafting, climbing and abseiling in the ‘Alpine Garden’ and Tyrol’s biggest high ropes climbing centre, a visit to the Adventure Park in Fulpmes, archery and a thrilling ride on the summer tobogganing run, which is almost three kilometres in length. All kinds of fun can also be had playing beach volleyball, street soccer or inline hockey. The Stubaital is a byword for a relaxing holiday, both for children and grown-ups alike.
