A true highlight for intermediate skiers at “Lofer” is definitely the 7 kilometre long run winding down to the base. State of the art snowmaking ensures skiability even when the weather gods are rather greedy on snow. And belive it or not by the time you reach the base you've overcome a difference in altitude of a 1000 metres. The several intermediate runs from the “Schönbühel” (1623m) are also a nice option. Should you be looking for more challenging grounds, check out the difficult ( black) run (see trail map) from the “Grubhörndl” (1747m). Allthough Lofer features slopes of all sizes and difficulty a rating higher than 3 stars is not possible. Far too often it is necessary to take easy runs to reach the more challenging areas of the resort. And of course diversity of terrain is rather limited in Lofer as the resort is simply to small, especially if compared to other ski resorts in the Alps. However, intermediate skiers who don’t mind crossing gentle terrain every once in a while and are more concerned with having an unhurried and easy going day on the slopes the “Lofer” resort can be warmly recommended.
