Resort Review Almenwelt LOFER - Snowboarders
No fun park, but wonderful outback riding!

Same as in the other categories, one has to differ between the various skill levels when rating the “Lofer” ski resort. Snowboarding beginners will definitely get their moneys worth in “Lofer”. The two baby/practice lifts at the “Lofer” base station and at the mountain station of the “Loferer Alm-Bahn 2” are excellent newcomer features for learning and improving riding skills. For athletic and professional riders the skiing area at “Lofer” leaves lots to desire! There is unfortunately no terrain park and the small size of the resort makes terrain diversity somewhat difficult. Thus Lofer certainly can't compete with large ski resorts, for instance “Saalbach Hinterglemm-Leogang” which is only 50 kilometers away. Unbeatable, however, are the outback powder runs at the plateau between the “Schönbühel” (1623m) and the “Schwarzeck” (1565m). Riders who are more interested in surfing powder runs than in park sessions will have a wonderful time at the “Lofer” resort.
