Alta features some of North Americas best skiing conditions. In our test we do not really consider snowfall and snow conditions but it’s definitely a plus factor that the super steep slopes at Alta are covered by thick snow cover. Even though the ski resort excels especially in the expert and intermediate skier category we can also recommend Alta to families. The great beginner area at the “Sunnyside” lift and the tow lifts in the valley offers enough diversity to keep the kids busy the entire day. If it is advantageous to close the ski resort to snowboarders is questionable. Boarders do miss out on wonderful off piste terrain but are compensated in Snowbird which is only 5 minutes away.
