Buttermilk - the beginner resort in Aspen!
Aspen and Vail are Colorado`s most famous ski resorts. Aspen features 4 mountains. Aspen Mountain (also called Ajax) and Aspen Highlands boasts difficult steeps which cater especially to expert skiers and boarders. Intermediate skiers are best off at Snowmass where an abundance of trails await to be discovered. Aspen Buttermilk however was conceived to fit especially the needs of families and novice skiers. With its 34 km of skiable terrain it is also the smallest ski resort in Aspen. Buttermilk is located about 5 km from downtown Aspen. Worthy of praise is the free parking lot at Buttermilk base. Those travelling to Aspen from Denver face a 350 km long journey via the Interstate 70. At Glenwood Springs continue in southern direction on the CO82. The alternative is a plane journey to Aspen / Pitkin County Airport. Direct flights are offered from Denver, Chicago, San Francisco, Salt Lake City and Phoenix.
