Aspen very narrowly missed our highest award of 5 stars in the “expert category”. The tree skiing terrain at the “Ridge Bell” are an experts dream-come-true. Depending on how far you venture along the mountain back you can either ski down the north or the south face. There is pretty much always some pristine trail through lightly forested terrain to be found! The FIS lift (see trail map) takes visitors to both, the groomed FIS descent (a perfect carving trail) and to various mogul and powder runs. We especially enjoyed the “S1” and the “Rayburns” slope. Those that prefer groomed to ungroomed terrain should stick around the peak where numerous intermediate and some difficult trails like the “Northstar” or the “Pussyfoot” are located. The NASTAR racing track is situated at the “Silver Dip” trail where you can race time or friends! If Aspen Mountain offered more terrain (there is only a total of 50km of trails at Ajax) they would have certainly been awarded 5 stars!
