Snowmass counts 137 km of skiable terrain and is consequently the largest of the 4 Aspen Ski Resorts (Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Aspen Buttermilk). Due to its location it is also the windiest and coldest ski resort. Still we think Snowmass is the nicest ski resort in Aspen, especially for “pleasure skiers”. Snowmass Village is located 14 km outside Aspen. Those travelling to Aspen from Denver face a relatively long (350 km) voyage (via Interstate 70, at Gelnwood Springs switch to the CO82 South). Just outside Snowmass Village the “Town Park Station” offers free parking lots. The free shuttle bus takes the winter athletes every 20 minutes to the bases. In close proximity to the ski resort all parking lots are reliable to charges. Aspen visitors can also travel to Aspen by plane. Direct flights to Aspen / Pitkin County Airport are offered from Denver, Chicago, San Francisco, Salt Lake City and Phoenix.
