While „Ajax“ (Aspen Moutain) is renowned for its powder and mogul terrain, Snowmass has the reputation of featuring the nicest carving terrain in Aspen. We recommend skilled skiers to start their skiing day at “Elk Camp”. The brand new “Elk Camp Gondola” accesses the terrain fast and comfortably. Trails like the 5 km long intermediate "Bull Run" or "Bear Bottom" lead across diverse terrain down into the valley. Afterward switch to “Alpine Springs” and take the “High Alpine Chair” up to the mountain ridge and you will be awarded with spectacular views of the Rockies and some challenging terrain like the black trails “The Edge” or “Showcase”. From the “High Alpine “Mountain Station you can also access the off-piste- terrain “Hanging Valley”. However you need to cover about 10 minutes on foot and keep in mind that the powder runs in the “Hanging Valley” are only suitable for those that are strong of skill, leg and courage! You can let the skiing day wind down at the quadruple “Sam`s Knob”. Amongst others you can ski the “Zugspitze” there, a beautiful trail named after Germany`s highest mountain!
