With only 37 miles (60km) of trails and only one base terminal, Belalp is fairly small, which for families with little winter athletes, is a very attractive quality. An area especially for kids, called „Snow Kids Village,“ has been constructed on Kühmatte and is equipped with a magic carpet lift as well as many other attractions for little skiers. Next to it is a short bunny slope where they can practice their first moves. The red and blue trails in the ski area are also family-friendly. Particular highlights are the trails no. 10 – off Hohbiel – and no. 20 off Schönbiel. But Belalp has more to offer than skiing. Whether it's the 4.3 mile (7km) sledding trail from Belalp to Blatten or one of the numerous hiking trails around Belalp with a view of the Great Aletsch Glacier or of the 17 peaks of over 13,000 ft (4000m) in the Valais Alps, families are certain to appreciate the alternatives to the alpine sport.
