Ski Civetta – Skiing with the most incredible backdrop in the Dolomite Alps!

Whereas most skiers have probably already heard of the ski resorts in the eastern part of the Dolomites, such as Groeden or Alta Badia, there are some interesting ones in the south-western part still waiting to be discovered. Civetta, with its 50 miles (80km) of slopes and three mountain villages, Alleghe (3212ft/979m), Selva di Cadore (4380ft/1335m) and Zoldo – Palafavera (4967ft/1514m), lies nestled in the center of the highest mountain range in the Dolomites. Next to the Marmolada Group (10,965ft/3342m) and the Sella Group (10,341ft/3152m), Monte Pelmo dominates the panoramic mountain view with its intimidatingly steep face. The best way to get there from the north is to take the Brenner autobahn and exit at Klausen. Once there, follow the signs to Arabba and then to Alleghe. Caution: in case of a snow storm, you will need tire chains! Coming in from the south (Venice) is simpler: take the autobahn A27 until you reach Belluno and then continue along the main road until you get to Alleghe. Whether the ski resort Civetta really is as beginner and family-friendly as its trail map implies, you'll find out right here in the results of the individual test categories.
