The freerider's hot tip: Disentis!

When Disentis gets a decent snowfall, it is a powder lover's dream. It's size and peaceful location make it a real insider's tip. Getting there is fairly easy; from the north you take the A13 toward Chur. A few miles after you hit Chur, turn onto the Reichenau (Flims, Laax) exit. Continue along highway (Bundesstraße) 19 toward Disentis for almost an hour. Once you get there, you'll find plenty of parking at the base. Most trails are located between 5906 (1800) and 9295 feet (2833m), which pretty much guarantees good skiing well into spring. Disentis has a gondola, three chairlifts (two of which are declutchable) and five t-bar lifts.
