The Milky Way Bowl is a dream come true for powder buffs!

The Sierra Nevada on the border between California and Nevada is well known for its westerly storms, which bring huge amounts of precipitation in from the Pacific. It is not uncommon for more than a half a meter of snow to fall over night multiple times during a single ski season. Powder fans from all over California make their way to Heavenly in South Lake Tahoe after nights like these in pursuit of the perfect powder run. Innumerable Black Diamond runs in the Milky Way Bowl and surrounding the Mott Canyon lift push even the best skiers to their limits. Glade skiers looking for a little bit of forest to hit up will find their nook at Ski Ways Glades. Follow the blue Skyline Trail from the upper terminal of the Sky Express chair and veer off in to the trees at the indicated spot to get back to the black run, Ellie’s.
