Heavenly – Skiing without borders!
There is no other ski area in the world quite like Heavenly, something we started realizing even before we arrived at the unique resort in South Lake Tahoe. Nestled up in the northern Sierra Nevada is the steel blue Lake Tahoe, surrounded by mountains towering up to 3300 meters above sea-level. The tallest is Freel Peak, which rises up to 10,891 feet, or 3320 meters. At the southern end of North America’s largest alpine lake are South Lake Tahoe and its Heavenly ski resort. Almost every trail in the ski area features a panoramic view of the lake’s shores which no other ski resort in the world can hold a candle to. Another thing that sets Heavenly apart from the rest is its location right on the border between the states of California and Nevada. The border runs straight through the city of South Lake Tahoe, dividing the Nevada side, with its numerous fancy casinos, from the cozier, wood cabin-laden California side. The nearest airports can be found in Reno, about 100 kilometers northeast of the city, and Sacramento, 170 kilometers to its west. The resort can be accessed by car from the west via Sacramento and US highway 50 or going through Reno and then heading south through Carson City.| Final grade: |
