Resort Review Hinterstoder Höss - Intermediate Skiers

Hinterstoder, worth the trip for intermediates

Evaluation Intermediate Skiers: Hinterstoder Höss: Evaluation: 4
Together with Wurzeralm (please see test report “Wurzeralm”), the ski resort Pyhrn-Priel has over 50 kilometers of slopes, 70% of which are either red or black trails. And though Hinterstoder may not be one of the largest ski areas in the Alps, it remains a great option for more experienced skiers in upper Austria. From the challenging, steep slopes on the Hosskogelabfahrt (11) to the great red carving slopes nos. 6 and 7 (please see trail map), and the newly incorporated World Cup run (Hannes Trinkl Abfahrt, 2a), experienced skiers will find plenty of ways to keep themselves entertained for a day or two at Hinterstoder. If you’d like to spend a little longer than that in the area, we recommend checking out some other nearby resorts in upper Austria. Hinterstoder receives a score of 4 out of 5 possible stars in the Intermediate category.

80% of the slopes can be laid with cannon snow, including the black “Hannes Trinkl” (2a).
Apart from the Hoss Express six-pack and one double chairlift, most of the lifts in the ski area are tows.
View of Hoss Boden in the center of the ski area.
Base terminal of the Hoss Express.
The Hirschkogel trail (4): beautiful carving slope, serviced by its very own tow.
The trails coming off of the upper terminal of the Hoss Express are particularly varied and an experience for young and old. (Picture Panorama slopes Hinterstoder, Photo: OÖT/Erber)
