The ski resort Hinterstoder Hoss, a part of the winter sports region Pyhrn-Priel, received a rating of either “good” or “very good” in almost every single category, proving very convincingly, that upper Austria is also home to excellent ski resorts. With a total of only 36 kilometers of trails (together with Wurzeralm it’s over 50), Hinterstoder can’t exactly compare with the giant ski areas in the Austrian states of Tyrol or Salzburg, but for skiers for whom getting a good deal is more important than an endless selection of trails, Hinterstoder should be high on the list. Whether you’re a beginner or a slope-connoisseur, this resort is at least worth a one-day trip.

The Hoss gondola brings guests from Hinterstoder into the ski area.	Ever since the 2000er tow lift started humming, it’s been the highest point in the resort – at over 2000 meters above sea level.	The “Totes Gebirge” surrounding Hinterstoder enchants skiers far away from the mass tourism found in other parts of the Alps.

The “Panorama” trails may be flat and not much of a challenge, but the view of the Totes Gebirge and the Kalkalpen National Park that you have from them will steal the breath of beginning and expert skiers alike.
