The ski resort Hochkar is one of the smallest ski resorts in Austria but also one of the largest resorts in Lower Austria. Hence the ski resort should not be compared to the large skiing-areas in Tyrol or Salzburg with regard to the number of slopes. All the more our testers were surprised to find terrain of different difficulty that fits the demands of skiers of all ability levels. There are even four very difficult slopes (marked black) available for experienced skiers and experts. Especially descent number 5a leading down from the Häsing mountain (1728m above sea level) is extremely steep and challenging. The arm of slope number 10 is also very demanding to skiers and snowboarders. Experts and free-riders can find a mogul slope there that remains ungroomed the entire season. At the foot of slope number 7 a permanent racing track can be found. Moreover the very modern and comfortable lift facilities are another advantage for experts at the ski resort Hochkar. Only the fact that the Hochkar ski resort is too small for experts with its 20 kilometers of groomed slopes circumvents the Hochkar of obtaining 5 stars in the category “experts”.
