A look at the trail map shows that this ski resort is especially adequate for intermediate skiers (108 km of intermediate levels trails) but suitable only to a limited extent for beginners. Still 37 km of easy trails await to be conquered by the novices. Beginners will probably find the challenging descents to the bases problematic. If the car is parked in Kaltenbach, at the latest then, these difficult descents must be mastered if one does not want to take the gondola back down to the valley. Unfortunately there are no easy trails leading down to the valley on the Hochfügner side either. It is therefore recommendable for novices to take the gondola back down to the valley. We advice beginners to use the short tow lifts (IX, X) in Hochfügen. The mountain station of the Hochzillertal-2-gondola is home to a flat practice trail. Other nice gentle terrain is to be found at the 2362 m high Öfeler Joch. Advantageous is the fact that the connecting path Z which connects nearly all easy slopes in Hochzillertal can be easily mastered by beginners.
