Ischgl - Ibiza of the Alps and way more besides

Every skier and snowboarder worth their salt knows that Ischgl has a well-earned reputation as one of the true après-ski meccas worldwide. Indeed, thanks to its legendary Top of the Mountain concerts and après-ski fortresses like the Kuhstall and Trofana, Ischgl is often lovingly referred to as the “Ibiza of the Alps”.

However, Ischgl has way more in stock than just partying all night long. As 90% of its runs are located between lofty 2,000m and 2,900m above sea level, Ischgl offers one of the best snow and slope conditions in the early and late season. Due to its excellent snow-making facilities, the higher slopes are also always kept in good condition.

By offering 238km of runs, Ischgl is one of the biggest linked ski areas in Austria, connecting the Paznaun Valley in Austria with Samnaun in Switzerland. Fun fact: Samnaun is the only town in Switzerland where duty-free shopping is possible.

The Silvretta Arena of Ischgl-Samnaun definitely charms more than it compensates. But yet, there are still some suggestions for improvement for one of the most popular and best ski resorts of the world, as it lacks some longer runs besides those descending into the valley. Anyhow, if you like varied runs, great lift systems, a vibrant nightlife, and gobs of snow, this could be the place for you.

Overpriced, overpriced, overpriced, overpriced
The ski area is overpriced. The day lift ticket costs €72 and the slopes are not groomed after a night-time snowfall. The parking lot costs an extra 5 euros

Very good for advanced. Beginner Unsuitable
In general, the ski resort can be described as very beautiful and demanding terrain, we were on the road with 3 advanced and 2 bloody beginners and unfortunately we had to find that these slopes are absolutely not suitable for beginners
