Leukerbad – “The best of two worlds”
Leukerbad, which not only has a small ski area just below the Torrenthorn, but also the largest alpine thermal bath facility in Europe, advertises accordingly with the slogan, „Snow and bathing fun.“ Hence the slogan for their local tourist office - „The best of two worlds.“ Whereas the thermal baths have already made a name for themselves across Europe, the ski resort Leukerbad is still fairly unknown. To get there coming from the west, simply take the A9 until you hit Sion and then head toward Leuk-Stadt. Once you get to Leuk, follow the signs over the sunny southern slopes of the Rhone Valley until you get to Leukerbad. The resort is only accessible from the east during the summer, and even then only if the Furka Pass is open to traffic. At the base terminal of the „Torrentbahnen,“ you'll be able to park your car in the parking garage (6CHF/day) and take the stairs directly to the base.| Final grade: |
