The highlight for advanced riders at “Lofer” is definitely the the 7 kilometres long base area descent, equipped with snow cannons. On this run, belive it or not, you scale a thousand metres in altitude. The several category red runs from the “Schönbühel” (1623m) are also a nice option. Should you be looking for something more challenging, check out the category black run (Mind the mountain map!) from the “Grubhörndl” (1747m). At the “Lofer” resort you can find slopes from all categories. Still, a rating higher than 3 stars is not possible. Much too often you have to take category blue runs to reach the more challenging areas of the resort. The range of options with regard to slopes is rather small at “Lofer”, in particular compared to other areas in the Alps. To advanced skiers, however, who don’t mind taking a category blue run every once in a while and are more concerned about having an unhurried and easy going day on the slopes the “Lofer” resort can be warmly recommended.
