First of all the skiing resort at “Lofer” (“Loferer Almbahnen”) is definitely one of the smaller resorts in the Alps. Near by many much bigger skiing areas, with many more slopes etc., can be found. None of these, however, offer such a family-friendly concept as does the “Lofer” skiing resort. Numerous baby/practice lifts, children’s areas and special offers for families distinguish this resort. For very skilled skiers and pros, however, the options concerning runs and training areas are simply too meager. Due to artificial snowmaking machinery the 7 kilometers long base area descent is in top condition December through April. Thanks to its very central location the skiing resort at “Lofer” always offers itself for a quick side-trip.
