Campiglio Dolomiti Ski Resort

The Skiarea Campiglio Dolomiti with the three sub-areas in Madonna di Campiglio, Val Rendena/Pinzolo and Folgarida-Marilleva in the heart of the Dolomites offers exhilarating skiing across 150 kilometres of runs – and all with just one ski pass. With 100 runs (45 of which are rated blue, 37 red and 18 black), there is plenty of terrain for every skill level within the Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta ski area. A total of 61 lifts carry skiers up the mountain here. The ski area sprawls between 850 and 2,500 meters above sea level. And if the white stuff is in short supply, 95 percent of the runs are served by snowmaking facilities.

60km of pistes in Madonna di Campiglio

The Madonna di Campiglio sub-area boasts over 60 kilometres of runs of all difficulties and is always ranked among the top 10 winter sports destinations in Italy. The largely intermediate runs, 55 of which are covered by snowmaking facilities, are a perfect playground for experienced skiers. One notable aspect of this ski area is that you can access runs directly from the town centre without once having to take off your skis, 21 lifts and several belt lifts take care of that. In addition, there is hardly any waiting for most lifts. The ski area is located between 1,550 and 2,500 meters against the breath-taking backdrop of the Brenta peaks. The area’s top-notch conditions aren’t just the reserve of skiers either. In fact, snowboard fans will also find Madonna di Campiglio to be a shred paradise and a leading light in Italian snowboarding.

One particular highlight for freestyle and snowboard fans is the Ursus terrain park on the Passo Grosté. At 70,000 m2, it is one of the largest terrain parks on the European continent. The make-up of the ground here makes it particularly well suited to jumps and structures of all skill levels. From the Grosté car park, the terrain park can be accessed via the Grosté cable car, or from the Spinale lift via the Rododendro chair lift and Grosté-Express. The terrain park is equipped with various rails, boxes, jump lines, table tops and jumps as well as a boardercross course and a quarterpipe. Val Gelada is undoubtedly the place to be for freeride fans.

The ski area’s 22 lodges and mountain restaurants offer up plenty of choice. Bar Ristorante Stoppani, which perches at 2,444 meters on the Passo Grosté, offers splendid views over the surrounding landscape. 

If you travel to Madonna di Campiglio to ski, then don’t miss out on the chance to take on the Canalone Miramonti. This hill has made a name for itself as a host of the Alpine ski world cup and is always worth trying. The floodlight facilities also allow night-time fun on the snow here. In addition, Madonna di Campiglio is home to the famously steep Spinale direttissima.

The DoloMitica in Pinzolo is the longest ski run, with the greatest descent (5,750m long, with a vertical drop of 1,248m) and the steepest downhill with a maximum slope over 70%.

If you want to reconnoitre the snowy backcountry on cross-country ski trails, there are over 20 kilometres of well-prepared tracks to explore. In addition, there are 30 kilometres of winter hiking paths. If you are looking for a place to unwind, swimming pools and wellness areas are a good place to start. You can find also many spots for ice skating. And if you are looking for more action, how about climbing a frozen waterfall with a guide?

In Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo and Folgarida-Marilleva are 30 après-ski-bars and restaurants. Ober1 in Madonna di Campiglio is a highly recommended next stop. This après-ski bar holds several events throughout the ski season and is the perfect place to round out a great day on the slopes. If you fancy a flavour of the local night life, the Des Alpes Mood Club, Zangola and Cliffangher Club are the most popular hangouts in Madonna di Campiglio after the sun goes down. Famous in Pinzolo are the Blu Bar and the Bar Genzianella.

You don’t have to go far to treat your taste buds in Madonna di Campiglio. The restaurant of the organic hotel Hermitage is excellent, as are the taverne of the hotel Bertelli “Gallo Cedrone” run by Head Chef Vinicio Tenni and the new Restaurant Dolomieu at the boutique hotel Chalet Dolce Vitaneue led by Head Chef Enrico Croatti. Other top destinations include Restaurant Alfiero in the Hotel Lorenzetti, which serves outstanding set menus heavily influenced by regional cuisine, and Restaurant Il Convivio in the Hotel Alpen Suite, which features a special gourmet menu.

By car:

If you are travelling from the north, you can drive via Merano or Bolzano. From there, head for Dimaro and then take the SS239 to Madonna di Campiglio. From the south, Madonna di Campiglio is accessible on the SS239 from Tione di Trento. From Trento, to the east, take the SS237 to Tione di Trento and then the SS239 to Madonna di Campiglio. The town centre of Madonna di Campiglio is off limits to cars. Vehicles can be safely parked in the parking garages on the edge of town.

Public transportation:

The nearest airport is in Brescia-Montichiari, some 120 kilometres away. The MADONNA DI CAMPIGLIO TRANSFER SERVICE runs to Madonna di Campiglio from the airports Milan Malpensa 2000, Milan Linate, Verona, Brescia, Venice, Bergamo, Bolzano and Innsbruck: 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, a fly-ski shuttle is operated from Verona/Bergamo on a Saturday and Sunday. The nearest station is Trento, some 70 kilometres away. You can book a shuttle service from there to your hotel.
