Apart from the glacier ski resorts in the European Alps, Mammoth Mountain, due to its altitude and excellent snow making facilities, is one of the first ski resorts in the northern hemisphere to open its gates. Therefore Mammoth Mountain is especially popular among team skiers who train for the coming race season! There is always a race track to be found on trails like the “World Cup” “Fascination” or “Broadway” (see trail map). While slalom experts can let off steam in the lower ranges of Mammoth Mountain, the area right below the Mammoth Mountain Peak features probably one of California’s best free ride terrains. The peak is home to powder runs like “Upper Dry Creek”, “Drop Out Chutes” or “Paranoid Flats” which are all “Double Diamond Runs”.
