Mayrhofen – The ski region where runs are still called Harakiri or Devil's Run

Mayrhofen has 133km of ski trails to offer, spread over the two ski mountains Ahorn and Penken. This makes Mayrhofen the second largest skiing area after the Zillertal Arena, the largest one in the Zillertal valley. Mayrhofen, as a young, energetic and hip ski region is the place to be with its Harakiri run, having a gradient of 78% and thus making it the steepest groomed ski trail in Austria. Yet, our test has shown that Mayrhofen has way more to offer than this.
The Vans Penken Park definitely belongs to the excellently equipped terrain parks and the valley run at the Ahorn certainly can be considered an insider's tip for very sportive skiers.
Being directly located at the Zillertal federal highway B169, the ski area can be reached from the border crossing in Kufstein via the Inntalautobahn (motorway) A12 within an hour. If there are no traffic jams Mayrhofen is also quickly and easily reachable from Innsbruck, Austria. And if you have the choice, try not to travel here on Saturdays as the B169 is usually busy and traffic jams are no rarity.
Check out each test category to get to know how well the ski region Mayrhofen has performed in our test. All information is at hand and only a click away.
