From classical carving and freeriding up to the steepest groomed run of Austria

The primary target group of the Mayrhofen Mountain Railways clearly is the the rather sportive and more experienced skier. Therefore, the offer for carving runs of an intermediate level of difficulty is outstanding. The heated chair lift “6y Lattenalmbahn” in Eggalm as well as the 8-seater Tappenalm and the numerous 6-seaters in Penken (Schneekar, Unterbergalm, Knorren etc.) are evidence of the fact that the ski resort Mayrhofen permanently keeps investing in its lift infrastructure.
We were especially fond of the red run No.13 leading to the 6-seater chairlift Katzenmoos. If you like skiing on ungroomed runs, we absolutely recommend the ski route No.1 from Lammerbichl to Eggalm. Those seeking for pure pleasure skiing will naturally feel at home at the wonderful red carving slopes No.1-6. And if you're up for a sportive challenge, you will get what you're looking for at the northern slopes of Knorren mountain on a height of 2,081m (6,827ft) . All runs leading from Knorren downhill to the mountain station Horbergbahn are very steep and a challenge even for well-experienced skiers. An ultimate highlight one shouldn't miss is the Harakiri slope, the steepest groomed run in Austria with a gradient of 78%.
