“Meran2000” is clearly specialized on families and seniors. Most runs, with the exception of the category red run “Mittager”, are fairly easy and with only 40 kilometers of slope “Meran” belongs to the smaller resorts in the Alps. Nevertheless a side trip to “Meran” is always worthwhile for a day trip. Another plus of the Italian family resort is the breathtaking view of the almost 4000 meters high “Ortler” mountain range in the west and the petering out Alps in the south. Of course it shouldn’t be left unmentioned that the chance to catch some sun is considerably higher than at most other resorts. Not that the “sunshine-factor” is a major rating criterion, but it is time and again astonishing , how gorgeous a day on the slopes of South Tyrol can be, while the central Alps are clothed in clouds.
