Hotham ski field is located in the heart of the Victorian Alps. Hotham village (1750 m) is located at the crest of the Great Alpine Road (B500) below Mt Hotham summit (1861 m). There are only three lifts that give access to terrain above the village. All other slopes are situated beneath the village. Hotham is the only snow resort in Australia which has its own airport, located just 20 kilometres from the slopes. Hence counting the travelling time, Hotham is the closest ski resort to every Australian city. Travelling to Hotham by car is of course less comfortable due to the very windy road leading up to an altitude above 1700m. Those travelling via the Hume Freeway need to exit the freeway at Wangaratta and continue on the Great Alpine Road via Bright to Mt Hotham. Those heading north from the southern shore we recommend to travel via Bairnsdale.
Hotham claims to have the largest intermediate terrain in Australia. Click through the categories of our test report to see if this is really true.
