Obertauern is situated on the Passhöhe (pass) of the Radstädter Tauern and is therefore relatively cut off from larger cities. For those looking for large discotheques in the valley will probably not be very successful in the area around Obertauern. However the cosy, rustical but modern alpine lodges belong to the best and loudest that the Alps can offer. For reall Après Ski fans we recommend the base of Seekareckbahn. The very recommendable Après Ski huts the “Hochalm” and the “Treff 2000” are situated there. But also the lodges on the slopes (which are not as loud) cater to the skiers wellbeing with food, beverages, drinks and of course music. The Après Ski in April is probably the best, as snow conditions remain promising and the sunny patios always have some free deck chairs to take a nap in, or admire the beautiful view from 2000m above seal level.
