The high-alpine ski resort Obertauern provides the novices in downhill skiing with excellent trails to learn the skills of handling skis or board. In total there are 19 easy descents which should guarantee a fun day on the slopes. Especially the trails next to the Flubachalm lift descending to the Kehrkopfbahn are very suitable to “take ones first steps” on skis. Also the runs next to the Schaidbergbahn or the very long and beautiful descent from the Zehnerkar mountain station to the base of the Edelweissbahn have to me mentioned. However we must not deprive you the fact that Obertauern is quite a challenging ski resort. The beginners should therefore try not to accidentally find themselves on the intermediate level and difficult runs which are probably among the most difficult descents in the Alps. All in all Obertauern truly deserves the good mark of 4 stars in the beginners’ category.
