Obertauern would actually deserve more than our highest mark of 5 stars in the experts category. No other ski-resort provides experts with such an array of challenging trails in beautiful mountain scenery. Seven difficult trails are not a peak value but they really do deserve the colour black (for difficult). Also the intermediate trails are worthy of experts. Permanent racing circuits, time measure circuits, slalom circuits complete our positive impression. The true highlight for experts is the legendary “Gamsleiten 2“ trail. There are only few descents in the Alps that are as demanding and steep as the very difficult and famous Gamsleiten 2. The extraordinary view of the 2357 m high Gamsleitenpeak, where the Gamsleiten 2 descends from, leaves a lasting impression. Obertauern has little concurrence in the experts’ category and truly offers unequalled opportunities.
