Revelstoke – the unique powder experience somewhere between Vancouver and Calgary...

We have to admit, getting to Revelstoke Mountain Resort is not as easy as getting to many other ski resorts you might have been to. But that may just be one of the things that make it more interesting. Because once you do finally arrive there, you will more than likely find it just as difficult to say goodbye. With its first lifts not having been added until 2007, Revelstoke is one of the youngest ski resorts in all of North America. And though the construction of those original plans for the resort is still far from being completed, there are already a total of 1263 hectares and 54 mapped trails being serviced by a gondola and two chairlifts (in March of 2011). The ski area currently covers an elevational difference of 1713 meters, with its highest point at 2225 meters above sea level, at the upper terminal of the chairlift, “The Stoke.” The resort also receives a very impressive 12-18 meters of snowfall every year – another reason the trip to Revelstoke is worth your trouble. The nearest airports are in Kamloops (210km, or about a 2.5 hour drive), Kelowna (199km, 2.5 hour drive) and Calgary (413km, ca. 5 hours passing through the very scenic Yoho, Banff and Glacier national parks). The airline Powder Air offers direct flights to Revelstoke out of Calgary on Saturdays and Sundays.
