The Ski Resort
The Rossfeld ski area in the Berchtesgadener Land is one of the smallest ski areas in the Alps. Nevertheless it enjoys a good reputation - especially with families. 3.5 kilometres of slopes offer pure snow fun for families and beginners. There is also a 6-kilometre long downhill run from Rossfeld to Oberau.
At Rossfeld itself, four lifts bring winter sports enthusiasts back up the mountain. Thanks to the great location of the ski area, you have a wonderful view of the Berchtesgadener Alps, the Salzach Valley and as far as Salzburg. However, anyone who takes the six-kilometre-long downhill run to Oberau is then taken back to the base station of the ski area by the ski bus. Even after work, a detour to the ski area is worthwhile, because here you can ski at night.
Snowboard and freestyle fans will find a small fun park and a separate snowboard slope with jumping hills at Rossfeld.
If you want, you can also purchase a combined ski pass for the Rossfeld and the neighbouring Zinkenlift. Thus, 15 kilometres of cross-border slopes are available to winter sports enthusiasts.

- It is among the 3 most family-friendly ski Resorts in Germany.
- The vertical drop from summit to base is 800 m. The average difference in altitude between base and summit of Ski Resorts in Germany is 214 m. Most runs are therefore relatively long. The high point of the ski resort is located at an elevation of 1,600 m.
- Average snow depth during the season is 75 cm at summit elevation and 11 cm at base elevation. Snow coverage is usually best during January, offering an average snow depth of 87 cm at summit elevation and 22 cm at the base.
- Rossfeld Berchtesgaden features 36 sunny days on average per season. The average for all ski Resorts in Germany is 24 sunny days. February is the sunniest month with an average of 13 sunny days.

For a break or a refreshment in between, winter sports enthusiasts will find the Rossfeld ski hut at the base station of the Großer Lift. Traditional Bavarian and local dishes are served on the large, sunny terrace with its magnificent panorama. Also for après-ski many people come to the Rossfeld-Skihütte. Alternatively, the Rossfeld Stub'm invites you to take a break.

Cross-country skiing enthusiasts will find easy, medium and difficult trails around Oberau. The beautifully snow-covered landscape of the Berchtesgadener mountains can also be enjoyed especially well during a winter hike. A tobogganing party on the 1.2 kilometre long toboggan run in Oberau is very fast. If you want to prove your talent in ice skating, you can use the ice rink in nearby Berchtesgaden. And for those who prefer to go to the warm after a strenuous day of skiing and who are looking for relaxation, an evening visit to the swimming pool might be the right thing for you.

By car:
Winter sports enthusiasts coming from Munich are best to take the A8 to Piding, just before the Austrian border. There change to the B20 and drive via Bad Reichenhall and Bischofswiesen to Berchtesgaden. Via the B319 or the 305 and the B319, you can get from there to Oberau and the base station of the Rossfeld lifts (Rossfeld Panoramastrasse).
If you are coming from Austria, take the Tauern Autobahn and take the 160/B305 near Gröding. Follow this to Unterau and from there take the signposted Rossfeld Panoramastrasse to the ski area. It is advisable to leave the car in Oberau and from there take the ski bus to Rossfeld. This way you can avoid the toll road.
By public transport:
The nearest train station to the ski area is in Berchtesgaden, six kilometres away. Air travellers can use Salzburg Airport, which is about 35 kilometres away from Rossfeld.
