Sappee – THE family resort in southern Finland!

The charming Sappee outside of Tampere is the ideal resort for your family weekend or Sunday ski trip. The best way to get there is to take the E12. Get off at exit 26 and keep heading toward Pälkäne/Hattula on the 57. After about 18.6 miles (30km), turn right onto the 12 (Lahdentie). After about another 1.2 miles (2km), exit onto the 3221 (Vuolijoentie) and after another 8.7 miles (14km), turn right onto the 322 (Aitoontie). Two-and-a-half miles later you turn left onto the 3230 Sappeentie and follow the signs the rest of the way to the ski area. The parking lots are just a few meters away from the entrance. After purchasing your lift ticket, you can strap onto your skis or board right away and make your first trail-descent to one of the lifts. The resort itself boasts an impressive range of familiy-friendly slopes and lifts, and throws in a quite sizable one for intermediate skiers as well. With a total of seven lifts and three miles (5km) of trails, Sappee is among the largest ski areas in southern Finland. It's trail map might be a bit confusing, but here's a bit of help: bright yellow=kids; light green=very easy; blue=easy – ALL of these fall under the BLUE category; purple=intermediate (RED); and red=expert (BLACK).
