Think big - think Sölden!
They really couldn't have chosen a more fitting slogan for this beautiful summer ski area. And the reference is definitely not only to the three, three thousand meter peaks surrounding the resort - the ski area itself won't leave the expectations awoken by the slogan unmet, either. To get to the ski area, take either the Inn Valley Motorway (Inntalautobahn) A12 or the Bundesstraße 171. The beautiful village of Sölden is located at the end of the Ötztal (Ötz Valley). Once you get to Sölden you'll follow Glacier Road through a toll (a ski pass will get you through free) to the foot of the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers. You do not need to ride a gondola up the mountain! You should, however, be aware of the fact that you will be driving up to an elevation of 2900 meters above sea-level – making snow tires a must in case of bad weather. Even from the parking lot you'll be able to see just how incredibly large this glacial ski resort really is, but the walk to the base is relatively short. This report covers the summer ski resort. The winter test can be found here: Sölden's glacier – Winter test.| Final grade: |
