With an altitude of up to 2,300 m, the Sonnenkopf in the Klostertal valley at the base of the world-famous Arlberg is considered to be particularly snow-sure. Until late spring, skiers can discover the 31 km of runs in the natural snow area for themselves. The Sonnenkopf is especially popular with families and freeriders.

Downhill run also for beginners

From the valley station in Danöfen, where there is also a ski rental and a ski school, you first take the 8-seater Sonnenkopf cable car to the top station. Once you reach the top at 1840 m, beginners can practice on the surrounding blue marked slopes. The Bettler Älpele, Sattelkopf and Riedboden drag lifts are particularly suitable for this purpose. If you want to try a longer descent, take the Riedkopf (7) or even the valley descent (1) to the middle or all the way down into the valley.

Childcare for the youngest

The kids may prepare themselves for the "big" slopes in the snowman's land. In the vicinity of the mountain station, the Klostertal Ski School offers lunchtime supervision for all three- to five-year courses. A telephone registration the day before is desired.

Skiing at 2,300 metres

Experienced skiers take the black marked downhill trail 10 or work their way up from the top station of the cable car to the chair lifts Obermuri or Obermoos. There are numerous red marked ski runs to choose from. The double chair lift Glattingrat leads to the highest point of the Sonnenkopf. From the summit, you can either take the downhill run 9 or descend back down to the valley via speed and mogul pistes.

Numerous possibilities for deep snow skiers

The natural snow paradise of Sonnenkopf is an absolute insider tip, especially for skiers who like to ski off-piste. Starting from the Glattingrat- and Obermuribahn, the Sonnenkopf offers many attractive deep-snow variations right next to the slopes. Real adventurers venture into the backcountry area.
