Make your first turns around Restaurant Gamsgarten

There are three nursery slopes for beginners of all ages served by the Mürmele, Kitzlift and Gamsgarten lifts on the slopes surrounding Restaurant Gamsgarten, at the mountain station of the Gamsgarten 2 lift. This area is also home to the Big Family Camp, a fantastic practice area operated by the local ski school. This ski camp has four additional magic carpet lifts, making ascending back up the hill child’s play.

    Simple tour around the Schaufelspitze

If you’ve already gained some experience on two skis, you can bypass the nursery slopes around Gamsgarten and instead tackle this straightforward tour around the 3,333 metre Schaufelspitze – a route which only encompasses blue-marked runs (we’ve marked this tour on the trail map included in the images for this category):

    • Piste no. 4 from Restaurant Eisgrat to the Bödelehütte
    • Trail 4a from the Bödelehütte to Fernau middle station
    • Fernau surface lift back to the Bödelehütte
    • Fernau chairlift from the Bödelehütte to Pfaffengrat
    • Run no. 10 and another ride on the Fernau chairlift up to Pfaffengrat (you can ski trail no. 10 as often as you would like)
    • Piste 5c to Gaisskarferner Lift (On the Gaisskarferner you can also ski the blue-marked run no.5 as often as you like)
    • From the Gaisskarferner mountain station, you then take trail no. 1 or 1a back to Restaurant Eisgrat

A perfect ski area for beginners overall

We have no hesitation in awarding Stubaier Gletscher the full 10 points in the beginners category. With some 70 km of trails, this ski area is a good size for novices, making orientation easy. Over half of the trails here are rated blue, while the nursery slopes around Gamsgarten offer an ideal area for beginners to get to grips with life on the snow. In total, there are 11 blue trails to explore across the ski area.

Yes there are enough ski schools on site and the piste offer for beginners is top. Very super groomed blue runs.
