Sun Peaks Resort – The second largest resort in British Columbia!
Just about 400 kilometers inland from the Canada’s west coast lies British Columbia’s cozy Sun Peaks Resort. With a ski area of almost 1500 hectares, it is the second largest resort (after Whistler Blackcomb) in the province of British Columbia. And thanks to its elevation of between 1255 and 2080 meters, an annual average snowfall of over 5 meters guarantees the perfect skiing conditions. A total of 6 chairlifts take winter athletes up to the peaks of the three adjoining areas on Mt. Tod (2152m), Sundance (1730m) and Mt. Morrisey (1675m). The majority of the trails at Sun Peaks are intermediates (blue, with 58%), while easy trails (green) comprise only 10% and expert trails (black) 32% of the terrain. Coming in from the west you’ll have a comfortable drive via the expanded highways 1 and 5. Right after you pass the city of Kamloops (pop. 80,000) you’ll take the turnoff for Heffley Creek and then follow the signs to Sun Peaks. Once you get to that turnoff, it’s only another 30km and a few elevational meters to the resort. After parking at either the Burfield chairlift (right at the entrance to the resort) or one of the two parking lots just below the Sunburst Express chairlift, it’s a very short trip from your car to your first ride up the mountain.| Final grade: |
