Separate beginners' area and a very professional terrain park!

Talma's terrain park and pipes are well-known in Finland. To get there, hop on one of these trains: K, N, T, H, R, or Z, heading toward Kerava. Don't forget: you will need two tickets for the train, since you cross into a different price zone on the way to Kerava. Get off the train at Kerava and head toward the underpass, where you'll take a left to get toward the center of the village. After 200 meters you'll most likely see a group of people carrying skis or boards. They'll be waiting for the complimentary shuttle to the lifts at Talma. Just make sure to have a look at the schedule (http://www.talmaski.fi/skibus_eng.html) before your trip, or you could be in for a very long wait, since the shuttle only runs every two hours. And please note the different timetables for weekends. For a detailed train schedule, go to this site: http://www.ytv.fi/ENG. If you plan on traveling by car from Helsinki, take the E75 heading toward Kustas Vaasan Tie and get off at exit 8 toward Tuusula/Kerava/Sipoo. Continue along the 148 for about 2.5km and then take a left at Kyllästämöntie. Turn off of Kyllästämöntie onto Talmantie after about 1.6km, where you'll be only 1km away from your final destination. The ticket offices are located between 20 and 200 meters from the parking lot. At Talma you will find 5 lifts and 3 total kilometers of trails, making it one of the largest ski areas in southern Finland. It also scored very well in the Snowboarders' category. There was no trail map available, so our team took the liberty of categorizing Talma's trails into levels of difficulty ourselves (blue/red/black). Our method is modeled after the categorization at other ski areas in the Alps.
