Thredbo – Australia`s highest lifted point
“Karels” is the name of the t-bar lift, which marks the highest lifted point at both Thredbo and Australia. The great vertical drop of 700m makes Thredbo unique in Australia. It features longer and steeper runs than all the other major resorts in New South Wales or Victoria. Furthermore Thredbo is one of the easiest reachable ski fields in Australia. Starting in Sydney just take the Hume Highway south to Goulburn where the Federal Highway to Canberra starts. Then follow the signs to Cooma. This road then joins the Kosciuszko Road which you then follow through Berridale and Jindabyne. On the other side of Jindabyne Thredbo is sign-posted. 2WD cars have to carry snow chains with them and a fee must be paid to enter the Kosziuszko National Park. Once arrived at the resort you can choose one of the many parking lots at Friday Flat or Valley Terminal. The ticket office and the lift facilities are in walking distance. The ski resort offers 480ha of skiable terrain. The majority (67%) is rated as intermediate level terrain. Thredbo boasts a lot of opportunities for first-timers and beginners as well. There is a big beginners area directly at Friday Flat. Snowboarders can hit the rail or do tricks almost everywhere due to the many different terrain parks that can be found all over the resort.| Final grade: |
