Treble Cone – the largest ski resort on the New Zealand South Island |
| “Treble Cone” is located in the south east of the “Southern Alps” on the New Zealand South Island. The ski resort is located between 1255m and 1960m above sea level and provides a breathtaking view of the 26 km distant Wanaka and the “Lake Wanaka”. The next airport, located in Queenstown is a two hour drive away from Treble Cone. We recommend to travel there on Highway 6 via Cromwell to Wanaka. An alternative route takes you through the beautiful Cardrona Valley but is not as well constructed as Highway 6. The journey to Christchurch, the largest city on the South Island takes you via Ashburton, Timaru, Wamate to Omarama and finally to Wanaka. Time 6 hours for the trip from Christchurch to Wanaka by car. From Wanaka a well construted road takes the visitors into the “Matukituki Valley”. The last kilometres into the skiresort how ever must be covered on gravel road (as in pretty much all ski resorts in New Zealand). Snow chains are compulsory during winter months. |
