Among New Zealands ski resorts, Turoa is definitely unbeatable in the après ski department. The view from the sunny patios of the three mountain restaurants is truly a “one in a lifetime experience” and will definitely leave you breathless! Fill your gaze with the extraordinary view across most of the North Island and the unique Mt Ruapehu Volcano! We especially liked the mountain restaurant at the mountain station of the “Giant Chair” at an altitude of 2057 m above sea level as the nicest view of the volcano and its ski resort can be enjoyed there. Those who prefer a more modern surrounding are better off at the recently constructed Café right at the base. Unlike most ski resorts in New Zealand fun doesn’t end when lifts close. Unlike Whalapapa where there is little offered in the Après Ski department (apart from the “Chateau Whakapapa” and another pub) night owls get their moneys worth in Turoa. Let the evening wind down in the “Turoa Lodge”, “Matterhorn” or “Altitude 585” and enjoy fun filled moments late into the night!
