Boarders of all ability levels will especially enjoy the south-face of Mt Ruapehu. Freestylers can test their skills in the small but nicely equiped terrain park in the “Frozen Waterfall” subarea. Less skilled boarders can improve their skills in the “beginner terrain park” at the “Wintergarden Platter 1” practicing lift. Both terrain parks feature own lift facilities which take the boarders up and around the terrain park comfortably. Snowboard first timers we recommend the practicing area “Alpine Meadow” right above the parking lot at the base. The highlight at Turoa however are without doubt the challenging powder runs “Double Black Diamond Runs” which pretty much surround the ski resort. Trails like “Race Line” (26), “Black Hand” (30) or “Triangle” (33) will challenge even the best among boarders!!
