With a total of 215 km of skiable terrain it is not only the largest ski resort in the USA but with its 7 Backbowls also features infinite off-piste terrain. From Vail Village in the valley the mountain does not seem overwhelming. But don’t be mistaken, the steeps are not visible from the foot of the mountain. The true dimension of the resort sinks in once you are at the mountain station of the “Vista Express” or after you cross the mountain ridge when the slopes at the Mid Vail and of course the Backbowls appear before your eyes. . Vail is located at 190km from Denver Airport. By car it is most recommendable to travel there via Interstate 70, exit Vail. Shuttle buses are also available.
