Whistler Blackcomb – the largest ski area in Canada!
With 3300 hectares, Whistler Blackcomb has more skiable terrain than any other resort in Canada. A total of 38 lifts, most of which are chairs, move visitors quickly up the mountain. As its name implies, the ski area is divided into two sections: Whistler and Blackcomb. Thanks to the very modern Peak2Peak gondola, both sections are not only accessible via the base in Whistler Village, but also from the top of the mountain. The gondola makes it possible to move from one section to the other in only 11 minutes. Another nice thing about Whistler is its proximity to Vancouver. A mere 125 kilometers away from the coastal city on British Columbian Highway 99, the trip is a relatively short and uncomplicated one. Once you arrive in Whistler, you’re probably going to want to park. If your hotel doesn’t happen to offer any parking, we recommend checking out the “Parking in Whistler” section of the whistlerblackcomb.com website. Just be reminded that not all of the parking listed there is complimentary. An alternative which would make parking a moot point is the Pacific Coach Lines bus from the Vancouver airport, which will take you directly to Whistler. Walking through the center of Whistler you’ll notice how well-prepared the town is for tourists, with a more than ample selection of restaurants, cafes, pubs, hotels and shops.| Final grade: |
