Zadov-Churanov – A ski resort for families and beginners!

Apart from “Zelezna Ruda” (“Böhmisch Eisenstein”) the two small villages of “Zadov” and “Churanov” stand for the major ski areas in the Bohemian Forest on Czech ground. “Churanov” is located about 40 kilometers from the Bavarian-Bohemian border. The easiest way to reach the resort is via the autobahn A3, which you exit at “Aicha vorm Wald”. From there follow the signage to “Freyung” where you need to head towards ” Phillipsreut”. After you’ve crossed the border you take the B 4 towards “Vimperk” (“Winterberg”) and then switch over to the federal highway 145 to “Kasperske Hory”. At “Zdikov” you can take a left towards “Churanov-Zadov”. Since the winter season 2006/2007 the new “POMA” 4-passenger chair-lift is the pride of the resort. Together with the 1-passenger chair-lift at the area around “Churanov” and the 4 t-bar-lift-facilities the transportation capacity of the ski-lift facilities adds up to about 4500 passengers per hour. That is more than enough for a resort that is still a fairly unknown resort to foreigners.
